In early 2022 we were given an awesome opportunity to work with the Starlight foundation to assist with a refresh their existing RAP and First Nations branding elements.
A co-creation by the team at @ingeousstudios we ideated a new series of unique emblems and decals that are now used across the Starlight Foundations Reconciliation Action Plan and their First Nations collateral elements. An important part of any of our design processes is to ensure that we have trues representation of both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and also the diversity of our cultures throughout Australia.
Working with an already established the Starlight Foundation palette and what had already been done through their past RAP designs we decide to modernise the look of each of the emblems and complement them with a modern decals which could be used across the Starlight Foundation. Key to the success of what we achieved in design these new elements was the guidance of the team of mentors at IndigeDesignLabs to ensure that our designs were true and culturally correct.
“It is important that we teach our young people that First Nations design is not simply doing what everyone says is First Nations design but innovating the design process with new thinking and new design… “
says Leigh Harris, founder of IndigeDesignLabs.
