February 15, 2024

Interested in Animation, well these workshops are for you! In an exciting opportunity Cairns Animation Incubator is set to launch a series of workshops designed to guide participants through the transformative journey from traditional artwork to full-fledged animation. Led by the experienced hand of Ian Whittaker and generously supported by Cairns Regional Council, Arts Queensland, Trinity Bay State High School, and Indigenous Design Labs, these workshops promise to be a comprehensive dive into the world of animation.

Unveiling Animation Fundamentals:

The series is primed to introduce participants to the foundational principles of animation, encompassing crucial concepts, techniques, and the utilization of industry standards. Aspiring animators can anticipate a rich learning experience that lays the groundwork for a successful venture into the dynamic realm of animated storytelling.

Crafting Narratives Through Animation:

Central to the workshops is the art of storytelling through animation. Attendees will be guided on how to effectively convey narratives using the unique and captivating medium of animation. This segment promises to provide participants with the skills to breathe life into their artistic visions.

Preparing Artwork for Animation Excellence:

One of the highlights of the workshops is the emphasis on preparing artwork for animation seamlessly. Participants will delve into the technical aspects of the process, including digitizing traditional artwork and optimizing files for industry-standard animation software. This hands-on approach ensures that attendees are well-equipped to navigate the practicalities of the animation process.

Industry-Standard Animation Toolkit:

With a focus on practical skills, the workshops will equip participants with proficiency in industry-standard animation tools. The goal is to empower attendees to seamlessly transition their artwork from paper to animation using the latest and most widely adopted tools in the industry.

Age or experience are not important, but if your under 13yrs an Adult will need to accompany you – Cairns Animation Incubator is looking for artists who want to get their artworks moving on screens, or experienced animators who are looking to collaborate.
