Indigenous Design Lab offers under-resourced aspiring creatives throughout the Far North Queensland region the opportunity to acquire career skills and real-world experience in the creative design industries.

IndigeDesignLabs was initially founded as a partnership between NorthSite Contemporary Arts and Indigenous design agency ingeous studios, led by Aboriginal designer and digital creative Leigh Harris, with support from Sheree Jacobs and Tarquin Singleton of Red Ochre Republic. Since then, it has evolved into a platform that creates opportunities for young people.

Our mission is to nurture the skills and experience of young Indigenous creatives in today’s design and technology industries by providing real-world, hands-on opportunities.

At IndigeDesignLabs, participants gain industry-level expertise across graphic design, photography, video production, digital production (UI/UX), and experimental technologies. We are also dedicated to developing immersive storytelling in both natural and built environments, bringing together art, design, technology, and culture.
